Roaches

Cockroaches are among the most common invaders of your home. Fossil evidence has shown that roaches are known to have been present on Earth for over 300 million years. You will see them in the daytime, particularly when a heavy population is present or when some other form of stress is placed on the population (such as lack of food or water). Cockroaches ordinarily prefer a moist environment, and many types of roaches also prefer a warm environment. They are especially fond of starches, sweets, grease, and meat products; but will also eat other material, including their own feces. Roaches have a remarkable determination to survive and can flatten their bodies to squeeze into the tightest of openings, with water available, adults can live about a 30 days without food.

Cockroach control generally requires an continuing treatment program. Bug Stop Services has treatment programs to accommodate your specific problem which will frequently require a monthly or quarterly treatment to guarantee that roaches will not come back. After the initial treatment, we place monitoring stations throughout the location and check them before each monthly treatment. Other services include filling holes where pipes meet the walls, seal cracks around windows, eaves, doors, and door sweeps. On slab foundations, we seal the weep holes and on pier and beam foundations, make sure that all the vents are screened or sealed.

If water is available, they can live for a month without food, but will die within approximately two weeks without water. The Oriental Cockroach also has egg cases that contain up to sixteen individual eggs which are dropped by the females and hatch on their own in about two months. The Oriental Cockroach tends to move somewhat slower than other species but they are harder to get rid of than other cockroaches.
